Haringey Council - Muswell Hill Ward
Description
Hi,

I am writing to report an issue I noticed today while driving along Muswell Hill. There are newly painted “20 mph” markings on the road surface, but as you approach the speed camera at this location, the sign displayed next to the camera clearly states “30 mph”.

This creates confusion for drivers, as it is unclear which speed limit is legally in force at that point. It also causes unnecessary stress, because a driver travelling at a speed between 20 and 30 mph cannot be sure whether the camera is enforcing a 20 mph limit or a 30 mph limit.

Just after passing the camera displaying “30 mph”, there is again a “20 mph” marking painted on the asphalt. The two different indications are contradictory and may lead to unintentional speeding or overly cautious driving that disrupts traffic flow.

I would be grateful if the relevant team could review the signage and road markings at this location and ensure that the speed limit is clearly and consistently communicated. This would help prevent confusion and reduce the risk of drivers receiving penalties due to unclear or conflicting instructions.

Thank you very much for looking into this matter.
