Dear Haringey Council,

I am a resident of Priscilla Close, N15. We have communal waste facilities consisting of 3 general waste bins and 3 recycling bins serving 13 houses on the road (see attached photo).

There is an ongoing problem with residents placing the wrong types of waste into the incorrect bins. As a result, the bins frequently become full before collection, leading to overflowing waste that can remain for weeks at a time. During the current hot weather, the smell from the overflowing rubbish becomes particularly unpleasant and creates an unhygienic environment.

The attached photo shows the extent of the overflow.

As this is a persistent issue, I would like to suggest that each property on the street is provided with its own general waste (black) wheelie bin and recycling wheelie bin. This would enable each household to take responsibility for correctly separating and managing its own waste, helping to reduce contamination of the recycling bins and prevent the recurring problem of overflowing communal bins.

If you need further information please let me know.-Priscilla Close, London, UK

I would like to report an ongoing issue with fly-tipping on our road.

This has been a persistent problem for some time. On several occasions, I have personally removed abandoned items and made four separate trips to the local recycling centre to dispose of waste that had been left in the communal area. I have also spoken directly to neighbours about the issue, which appeared to improve the situation for a while.

Unfortunately, a new resident at No. 9 has recently left a wardrobe in the communal area (see attached photo). I spoke to the occupants of No. 9 and asked them to remove it, but they refused to do so.

There are multiple eyewitnesses who saw the wardrobe being left by the occupants of No. 9, and they are able to provide further information if required.

It is important to stress that this problem is being caused by only a small number of households. The majority of residents dispose of their waste responsibly and do not want to live in these conditions. It is unfair that those of us who respect the area are continually affected by the actions of a few neighbours.

I do not think it is fair that I should have to continue spending my own time and money clearing up other people's waste in order to keep the area clean. This is the responsibility of those who are leaving these items.

I would be grateful if the council could investigate this matter and take the appropriate action. At the very least, I ask that a letter is sent to all residents on the road, and in particular to the occupants of No. 9, reminding them of their legal responsibilities regarding waste disposal and the consequences of fly-tipping. Raising awareness of the potential penalties may help prevent this recurring problem and encourage residents to dispose of bulky waste responsibly.

I hope the council can take steps to resolve this ongoing issue so that the actions of a few residents do not continue to negatively impact the wider community.-Priscilla Close, London, UK
